During her April 27 appearance onGood Morning America, the Oscar winner, 43, was asked about wanting to seea more diverse array of bodies in the movie, which she previously said she advocated for when she noticed many "traditionally sized models" on set.

While she celebrated the wide range of figures represented in the sequel, she also took a moment to clarify that the recasting didn't cost anyone their jobs.

"It was this quick thing that happened on set, and now it's become a much bigger story," she began. "Actually, I do want to mention some misinformation getting out there right now that people were fired because of the size inclusivity, and that just didn't happen."

She clarified, "Nobody lost their jobs; in fact, it created more jobs. It was just about making sure that so many different body types saw themselves in a moment in the script..."

Hathaway, who reprises her role as Andy Sachs, didn't want to give away a part of the movie where everyone has their moment but, she explained, "There's a song that [Lady] Gaga wrote and it's a beautiful amazing song. Isn't it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there with that?"

Hathaway talked about depicting the fashion industry through a modern lens, as opposed to when the first film came out in 2006, in an Etalk interview conducted at the April 20 premiere ofThe Devil Wears Prada 2in New York City.

Speaking with the outlet, she said, "We also know in the last few years that the fashion industry can take a more inclusive approach to beauty standards and I think that we're all kind of happier when it's like that, when everybody feels included." She added of her involvement in casting, "I just went up to the producers and said, 'Hey, do you think that we could?' And they looked up, and they said, 'We're so embarrassed we didn't notice, and of course.' And within two hours, suddenly, there were more girls there. It made me happy."

In a March 25 article published byHarper's Bazaar,Meryl Streep (who plays Miranda Priestly) commended Hathaway's determination to make real change in the industry.

The presidentechoed the call on Truth Social. "I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel's despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale," Trump wrote in a post that was republished bythe official White House account on X.

The backlash comes more than seven months after ABCtemporarily suspended Kimmel from his showin September 2025 for comments he made about the fatal shooting ofconservative activist Charlie Kirk.
